Where: In Blairgowrie Work Activity: Travertine Clean and protect
Travertine floors are notoriously bad in the two setting that they are most used in those being kitchens and bathrooms. The reason these floors take a beating is because they are prone to etching and pitting when coming into contact with any acid (tooth paste, mouth wash, wine, vinegar salad dressing etc. It is due the calcium content of the stone, as result over time the floors become dirty pitted and unsightly.
Since cleaning and protecting this floor we have developed an additional service which incorporates filling and re-grouting.
We first clean the stone with a rotary machine with diamond encrusted brushes and natural stone cleaner. The travertine is then rinsed and fully dried before screening the floor with a filler which removes not only the pin hole dirt traps but the larger holes and popped filling holes. The floor is then left over night before returning to clean off any dried residue. We then use a colour enhancing impregnator to protect the stone from within while allowing it to breath. The impregnator works similar to scotch guard repelling oils and grease and making water bead on the surface rather than rapidly sinking in to the naturally poisonous stone
