Vinyl floor Repairs

Does your vinyl floor need repairing
Invariably one can’t get an exact match with new and old vinyl and therefore you have the choice of repairing the floor with a standard patch which will make it look like an old patched floor
Repairing and recolouring the floor and encapsulating the repair with polyethylene wear layers giving you a new floor at a quarter of the price of a replacement floor or thirdly disguise the repairs by making the circular repairs part of a designer floor.

This popular children’s nursery in The portobello district of Edinburgh…

This popular children’s nursery in The portobello district of Edinburgh saved thousands of pounds as a result of the team at Citrus being able to restore their marmoleum floors by cleaning them and adding a polyethylene satin wear layer to the floor negating the need to rip out the old tired looking floor and replacing them. Because it took so long to find an installer that would carry out the minor repairs prior to the overall restoration, our staff having spent a week down at Floorskills in Solihull learning the basic techniques and are now proficient in sub floor preparation, self levelling screeds and additives,
Vinyl welding, repairs and replacement.
Therefore the next time a client requires a vinyl floor restored and it has a few issues, like broken welds and small areas that are beyond repair and need replacing the team at Citrus can off this a a complete vinyl restoration service

Marmoleum Floor Restoration St Andrews

When would we recommend restoring a marmoleum floor and only apply a sacrificial dressing rather than the more permanent solution, of a polyethylene wear layer by Dr Schutz?
This property is a case in point, 9 out of 10 times we would recommend cleaning the floors then apply a clear polyethylene wear layer to the floors (usually with a satin sheen, however mat and gloss are available).
This property will be up for sale in the next week and the owner wanted to revitalise the floors knowing that we would be applying a sacrificial dressing which would give the desired result in the short to medium term requiring periodic maintenance.

Our client was astounded at the results
She said “ The floor looked amazing, I don’t know how you did it but they look brand new “

Sanding, Lacquering & Line Marking

Community centre halls and school gym halls can be transformed as evidenced by the transformation that Citrus where able to achieve in one week of the school holiday shut down at Robert Douglas Memorial School in Scone near Perth.
The floors are a beautiful pitch pine, structurally sound but the lacquer was old, dirty and scratched to death, the badminton court line markings although still present where  chipped and worn and the floor was covered in deep scratches and gouges. The old lacquer was stripped off using 24 grit pads on a Pallmann Cobra drum sander. We then progressed up the grits, 40,60, with the drum sander then switched to the Pallmann Spider using 60 80 and 100 grit pads to finish the floor. The floors were water popped at 80 grit to check for machine marks before moving up the grades. The floors were then primed with a commercial wood primer and the first coat of two part commercial lacquer was applied, the following day the floor was de-nibbed before settling out the courts, as well as the badminton court we also added basketball and netball courts before protecting them with two further coats of commercial lacquer.

If you have pulled up carpets to reveal floorboards that are cupped in places, have some damage and have a horrible thick dark lacquer on them, can they be restored?
The answer is invariably Yes
